Dyslexia Intervention from a Credentialed, Orton-Gillingham Certified, Educator
If you’re searching for a certified Orton-Gillingham educator who can provide you with evidence-based reading instruction aligned with the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, look no further! I am a certified Orton-Gillingham educator and credentialed teacher with my master's degree in teaching. I have over seven years experience teaching reading intervention and special education.
I am certified in, and utilize, the Institute for Multi-sensory Education's research-based Orton-Gillingham approach to teach reading. I completed IMSE's Orton-Gillingham Practicum in 2024 and am a CERI certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI). I am also trained in IMSE's Morphology Plus (Morphology+), which is ideal for students in grades 3 and above who can read and spell, but continue to struggle with language comprehension. This curriculum focuses on higher level skills such as morphology, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
I also hold a Reading Science Certificate from Mount St. Joseph University, one of the nation's leading schools in Science of Reading education. My main focus is working with students with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia and dysgraphia. My lessons also prepare students for Indiana's IREAD assessment, a high-stakes exam that measures foundational reading skills based on Indiana Academic Standards through grade three.
I provide online tutoring across the US, or in-person tutoring in Fort Wayne, IN to students in preschool through 12th grade.
My Story
A Professional Instructor at Your Service
I am a teacher specializing in dyslexia intervention focused solely on teaching students how to read using a method backed by extensive research. I taught for four years in Bonsall, CA. My first three years I taught both mild/moderate special education as well as reading intervention. My fourth year I taught reading intervention at two diverse elementary schools within the district. Before obtaining my job at BUSD, I was a student teacher in both a K-3 resource classroom and in a kindergarten classroom. Teaching reading is my passion and seeing my students grow and excel is my reason for teaching. I have extension knowledge of the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading. I am a proud advocate of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy.
